On behalf of Tray Harkins, president, and the Board of Education, they are pleased to announce the selection of Dr. Dan Hoehn as superintendent of schools to succeed Dr. David Lawrence who is retiring June 30, 2016.

Dr. Hoehn is currently serving as superintendent of the Lexington R-V Schools.  Prior to accepting the position at Lexington he was a district director and principal at De Soto (MO) High School.  He has served as a district administrator at the Festus R-VI Schools; including Dean of Students, instructor and head coach. He has also taught Industrial Technology at the high school level and English and Reading at the middle school and elementary levels. During his tenure at De Soto he served as President of the Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals.

The board received 26 applications for the position and interviewed six finalists.

Mr. Harkins noted, "The board is very impressed with Dr. Hoehn’s leadership experience and feels that he will continue to support the staff with a vision for the district that builds on progress made during Dr. Lawrence's tenure."

Dr. Hoehn and his wife, Kathy, will be moving to the Excelsior Springs community when he assumes his new role July 1, 2016.

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Hoehn to the Excelsior Springs #40 School District.
